DetailsKanemoto was one of the leading smiths of the Mino tradition in the late Muromachi period. Although several generations bore the same name, the second generation was considered the most skilled, and he is widely admired under the name “Magoroku Kanemoto.” Kanemoto was particularly renowned for creating the sanbonsugi hamon, consisting of pointed gunome patterns arranged in groups of three.
This blade clearly reflects his style, displaying gunome of varying heights mixed with pointed elements, closely grouped together to form the sanbonsugi pattern, with a strong nioi base accompanied by fine nie. Furthermore, the signature on this piece is exemplary, representing a model example of his work.
