DetailsTaro Akamatsu Kaneyasu is a master swordsmith representing Kumamoto Prefecture and a member of the prestigious Akamatsu school of swordmaking. Alongside his own work, swordsmiths such as Kanetsugu, Kaneteru, Mitsuhiro, and Kaneyuki personally collect iron sand and create their own tamahagane (traditional steel) through home smelting. Their skill has been recognized at new sword exhibitions, earning them numerous awards. He is highly active in Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Renowned for the sharpness of his blades, he enjoys great popularity among enthusiasts of battōjutsu (quick-draw sword techniques). Master Kaneyasu is particularly skilled at reproducing swords in the style of Kiyomaro, producing exceptional quality works.
