DetailsMoegi ito odoshi Nimaido Gusoku. This work is accompanied by a double wooden horn stand imitating the horns of a water buffalo. A famous armor with double horns is the Kuroito Idomaru Gusoku of Honda Tadakatsu, who was active in the Edo period as one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Tokugawa. The decoration of animal horns is said to be intended to intimidate and have a commanding effect.
萌葱絲本小札威二枚胴具足。本作は水牛の角を模した木製双角の脇立が付帯している。双角で有名な甲冑は徳川四天王として江戸時代に活躍した本田忠勝の黒糸威胴丸具足がある。動物の角を装飾化することは威嚇と威儀的効果をねらったものと伝える。
