BoushiThe hamon becomes irregular and returns toward a small rounded boshi (komaru).

DetailsKyushu Higo Dotanuki Uenosuke was a renowned swordsmith and the head of the famous Dotanuki school, which was active in Higo Province (present-day Kumamoto Prefecture) from the Azuchi-Momoyama period through the early Edo period.
He was in the service of Lord Katō Kiyomasa, who bestowed upon him the character “Masa” (正). He later changed his name to Masakuni (正国).
He is renowned for his robust and powerful style of swordmaking, as well as the exceptional cutting ability of his blades. The Dotanuki school was also highly regarded for its skill in forging spears.
