DetailsThe Senjuin school of Yamato is said to be a group of blacksmiths that belonged to a monastery (also called Todaiji-related or Kofuku-ji-related) located near Senju Valley at the foot of Mt. While the four schools of Shirikake originated in the late Kamakura period, it is much older, dating back to the late Heian period. This is an old sword believed to have been made by Kosenjuin from the late Heian period to the early Kamakura period. The workmanship is full of antiquity, with a small, elegantly flowing straight-grained skin, straight edges, and slight fraying in places.
