DetailsMichitoshi was from the Yatabe family and was also known as Hikoroku. He was born in Genroku 10 (1697). Initially, he went by the name Dōju, later changing it to Inju in his later years. He first studied under Gunji Kōami, and later moved to Edo to learn from Nara Toshinaga. From this lineage emerged craftsmen such as Tamagawa Yoshihisa, Tamagawa Jōju, and Yoshinaga. His contributions to the rise of Mito-style metal carving (Mito-bori) were significant. He is considered a highly skilled artisan.
